Protect and enhance the health and safety of employees and contractors by directing plant safety programs to minimize losses.
Ensure the organization is in an audit ready state of compliance with company safety policies and procedures, as well as applicable external regulatory requirements.
Support the site chemical management program to comply with government regulations, protect health, and prevent incidents.
Lead/foster a caring culture where safety, health and environment are ingrained as a core value with all employees.
Partner with corporate safety and site leadership to develop key priorities to drive improvement.
Establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Monitor and develop processes to prevent and minimize chemical, physical and biological hazards and releases.
Provide technical assistance on development and implementation of the provisions of the Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP)
Risk assessment and elimination: lead the effective utilization of risk assessment/predication tools to identify and mitigate hazards.
Monitor Material Purchasing Specifications for chemical changes requiring the implementation of additional safety procedures.
Conduct proactive hazard assessments, audits, and incident investigations and lead appropriate corrective actions if required.
Investigate all safety related incidents, and completes necessary follow up for safety management system, insurance carrier or applicable parties.
Conduct training in safety practices such as fire prevention, emergency preparedness, fall protection, LOTO, safe chemical handling, etc.
Maintain safety files and records
Lead safety committee
Lead plant wellness initiatives in conjunction with corporate programs
Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of support required for safety and industrial hygiene.
Evaluate and approve all chemicals entering the site and maintain Chemical Management System in conjunction with Headquarters.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Chemical/Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent experience required.
Three years of experience preferred, intern and co-op experience will be considered.
Experience in a chemical manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment desired
Professional certification in safety or industrial hygiene preferred.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations (federal, state, local and county) and standards, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and ISO 14001as applied to manufacturing operations.
Excellent interpersonal skills; able to influence and motivate others to achieve results
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment when interfacing with employees and outside auditors/inspectors/agency personnel

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
